I posted the lyrics not long ago, but. . .

Now we've gone and done it. We've made a little recording of "The Only Living Boy in Turlock," not much tampered with or fixed up, yet, so be kind, and there's an extra accidental chorus thrown in, somewhere. Other than that, though, it works okay! You'll get the idea!

So, CLICK THIS to hear the recording!

Please! ©, etc. Don't make a nice girl cry. Chris wrote the guitar music, I wrote the lyrics/melody line. Of the songs we brought down to my mother (the others of which we also made little first run recordings of, tonight--Lancelot's Song and the Late Afternoon Lullaby), this was m'mom's favorite, the one she demanded we make her a recording of. So, for my mama and all.

Thinking I'll cross post this at my fiddly bit journal, too, though. . . 'cause, y'know, I'm curious. . .

Baaah.

The first copy was too quiet overall. The copy we put up is too quiet on the vocal, according to my speakers. Is that just my speakers? It had sounded too loud, on Chris' computer.

Ah, well. Anyway, for a first try on this one!

Hi Lauren,
It's a good / fun song.
I love your voice.
It's hard to be your own engineer when mixing your self.
It would be good to have your voice on a track without any guitar.
Sing it again with the existing guitar track and I'll add some upright bass.
Love,
The old Hippy that used to sing Oak Tree while cooking.

Gary?? Oh my goodness, it's so good to hear from you! How are you? What's up?

Thank you so much.. . We're still working on it.. The program we've got isn't great, and it's hard trying to get it to not sound like voice right, guitar left. The program is LiveLite, and it's a pain in the butt to get it to do much of anything. I'll put up new recordings when we get them, though!

I hope all's well with you.
Love, Me

Lauren,
Sounds like you're happy!
Write me and we'll catch up.
I would like a simple guitar on left and voice on right without the guitar bleeding through the voice track. Then I can do my magic with all the recording stuff I have here in my little studio.
If you don't mind, I would like to add other instruments to the song and have fun with it.
You know the Amptender email address... have Chris to write down the chords he's using and send them to me.
Let me toy with it!
It's what I do.
Love,
Gary

zLauren, this is Dinah. I didn't want you to freak out that I'm reading your journal. We just want to be sure you're happy. We kind of adopted you, you know. Your ex isn't reading it, by the way, in case you were wondering. And I love your song.

Thank you guys so much.. . I was wondering, yes, so thank you for letting me know. I miss you two! It's so good to hear from you! Yes, I am very happy. Have some shaky times (Zach's not doing so well), but things are good here, Chris is wonderful to me, the cat's (mostly) a sweetie, life is good. Thank you!
